Judi Richards
Judi Richards has been an ambassador for Oxfam-Québec since 2000. She has thrown herself wholeheartedly into initiatives to empower women and assure them access to education.
The professional path that Judi Richards has followed has made her the complete artist she is today: she started as a dancer, trained in classical ballet and choreography, and went on to become a moderator, a comedienne, and then a singer, both as a soloist and as a member of the Toulouse group. She is at once a writer, composer and performer, a businesswoman, and a true humanist.
In 2002, Judy visited Oxfam-Québec projects in Vietnam and Cambodia, where she met women working to build cooperatives. "What an unforgettable adventure! The way these women have pulled together to improve their lot really makes me proud to see how Oxfam-Québec is working on the other side of the world, it's just unbelievable! I will never forget that trip and I will always be a close friend of Oxfam-Québec. I know what it’s doing with those donations."
Accompanied by Sylvie Frechette during her stay in Niger, Judy met with local communities, the Oxfam-Québec teams, and our local partners. When she returned home, she decided to help with the financing of Oxfam-Québec projects by devoting a portion of the profits from the sale of the DVD of her show with Yvon Deschamps.
"What happened to me when I went to Niger is that I was just blown away with emotions about what I saw. So now I'm working to boost donations. I want to help steer more investment into this cause."
