Oxfam-Québec was mainly involved in southern Sudan in the humanitarian action sector between 1988 and 1996.
From 1988 to 1991, Oxfam-Québec carried out emergency relief projects with international partners. These projects included emergency health programs in the regions of Leer, Kongor and Pibor, as well as agricultural rehabilitation programs in the Boma and Pibor districts, in response to the tremendous needs of the displaced southern Sudanese who went into exile in these regions.
From 1988 to 1992, Oxfam-Québec also funded development projects in the education and health sectors.
In 1994, Oxfam-Québec became involved in a major emergency relief program in southern Sudan focusing on food security for the displaced populations of Rumbek County.
In 1995 and 1996, Oxfam-Québec lent assistance to Oxfam Great Britain in implementing an aid program that included interventions in the areas of road rebuilding, training, agriculture, and income-generating activities.
Today, Oxfam-Québec continues to assist Oxfam Great Britain in carrying out humanitarian aid projects.
