Support our emergency responses

Every year, thousands of people are driven from their homes by natural disasters or conflicts. Their survival depends on prompt and effective humanitarian assistance.

Some of the things we do:

  • We provide safe drinking water to prevent the spread of epidemics and diseases.
  • We distribute emergency kits (hiking, cooking kits).
  • We help set up refugee camps.

In the field, we work with experienced professionals who know the country. We also pool our efforts with those of other members of the Oxfam family. In this way, we can respond promptly and effectively to people's most urgent needs.

What can you do?

Make a donation, or organize a fund-raising drive. When a humanitarian emergency strikes, every dollar saves lives.

Some examples of what we can do with your money:

  • $5 will buy a water bucket in Haiti
  • $20 will buy three schoolbooks in Bolivie
  • $40 will feed three children in Niger for a month
  • $250 will help two women start a business in Vietnam
  • $500 is enough to buy a cow for a herder in Burkina Faso

Oxfam-Québec does not ship clothing or food abroad. That costs too much. Instead, we use donations to buy local products and so boost the regional economy or that of neighboring countries.

We need regular donations so we can be ready to respond immediately when emergencies strike. Regular donations also allow us to pursue our work when a crisis has not yet attracted international attention.

Become a volunteer When a disaster strikes, we need your help to answer the telephone, organize fund-raising drives, record donations, etc.
