Support international cooperation and sustainable development projects
Oxfam-Québec works in partnership with local organizations in countries of the South, through international cooperation projects. These projects are making a lasting change in the daily lives of thousands of people.
Example:
In Benin, the Solid Household Wastes Management Project led to creation of a recycling centre that recovers more than 7 tons of trash every day. Thanks to this project, 400 women salvagers have increased their incomes by more than 50%.
Oxfam-Québec is involved in international cooperation projects in over 20 countries.
Our volunteers: Quebecers are helping out in countries of the South
Oxfam-Québec sends volunteers into the field, where they share their expertise and their know-how with local communities and help carry out our projects.
Examples:
In the Democratic Republic of Congo, our volunteers are helping child soldiers to rejoin society.
In Burkina Faso, they are supporting the marketing of red palm oil.
In Niger, they are working to strengthen women's organizations.
In Nicaragua, they are involved in developing agricultural resources.
