Oxfam-Québec has been working in the DRC since 1984, providing a volunteer cooperant presence in the country.
Oxfam-Québec’s initial operations were aimed at the rehabilitation and social reinsertion of the displaced and repatriated Congolese in the north.
Since July 1999, Oxfam-Québec has been working with the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees in the areas of water and sanitation, shelter and infrastructure, health, education, agriculture and environment in order to provide access to basic social services as well as offer a means of subsistence for the refugees and the local Congolese population.
Today, Oxfam-Québec has added sustainable development activities aimed at vulnerable groups to its projects.
Oxfam-Québec’s projects in the DRC are managed from the national office in Kinshasa.
