Defend the rights of the Palestinian people

Ask the Prime Minister and the Minister of Foreign Affairs for urgent and firm action by Canada to ensure that international law is respected and prevails.

The situation in the Occupied Palestinian Territory is more than catastrophic. In Gaza, more than 53,000 people have been killed since October 2023. The civilian population is facing unimaginable hardship, and the risk of starvation is imminent.

With the continuation of Israeli military operations, indiscriminate bombardments and the blocking of humanitarian aid, Israel is collectively and massively punishing the civilian population with a degree of violence that defies comprehension. Moreover, the plan to militarize humanitarian aid violates the fundamental norms of impartiality in humanitarian action.

Meanwhile, in West Bank, families continue to be forcibly displaced and to suffer from outbreaks of violence by settlers and Israeli forces.

For a real ceasefire, let’s call for the suspension of arms transfers to Israel

Canada cannot risk being complicit, however unwittingly, in the armed violence being visited on the civilian population. To this end, we must immediately halt all our military exports, direct or indirect, to Israel.

The government must also use all the tools at its disposal to ensure that humanitarian aid reaches those in need in Gaza, and that an immediate and permanent ceasefire is established. Canada must also redouble its efforts to bring an end to violence, forced displacement and land dispossession in the West Bank.

By signing this petition, you are joining us in calling on the Prime Minister of Canada, Mark Carney, and the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Anita Anand, to take strong actions:

  • Call for an immediate and permanent ceasefire to end the violence and prevent further suffering among the Palestinian population.

  • Cancel all permits authorizing the sale of Canadian-made weapons and weapons components to Israel, including those transiting the United States.

  • Increase humanitarian aid to the Palestinians, and use all Canadian diplomatic channels and alliances to demand that aid flow unimpeded and free from military control.

  • Apply restrictive measures in its bilateral relations to stop attacks, demolitions, expropriations and colonization in the occupied West Bank, and protect the rights of Palestinian families.

We must act now!

Your voice for Palestine and international humanitarian law makes a difference and strengthens our action! In our letters and in our meetings with the offices of the Minister of Foreign Affairs and the Prime Minister, we relay these demands and rely on your signatures.

It’s time to act to defend the rights of the Palestinian people and all civilian populations affected by armed conflict. Palestine is and always will be the Palestine of the Palestinians. Millions are suffering, and Canada’s unifying leadership is crucial to putting an end to it.

Take a stand for peace and justice – call on Canada to act now !

flècheI demand an immediate ceasefire
