History of Oxfam-Québec in the country:

Oxfam-Québec has been funding projects in Burkina Faso since 1973, but it was only in 1987 that a volunteer cooperation program could be established in the country.
Women and Economic Activities

In 1989, Oxfam-Québec began working in the ‘Women and Economic Activities’ sector, through which it funds microbusiness projects, subsidizes credit funds managed by women’s organizations, and supports revenue-generating initiatives.

In 1996, Oxfam-Québec adopted a regional office model and a regional office for West Africa was established in Cotonou, Benin to supervise activities in Benin, Niger and Burkina Faso.

Then, in 1998, the regional office became a national office so it could assume full responsibility for the development and implementation of programs in Burkina Faso.

Following the successful integration of CLUB 2/3 and Oxfam-Québec in 2005, the national office in Ouagadougou now also manages the projects of CLUB 2/3 in Burkina Faso.

CLUB 2/3 has been active in the country since 1992 and is recognized for its expertise in working with youth.

In addition, Oxfam-Québec has extensive experience in Burkina Faso in basic education and literacy, as well as in local partner capacity building (NGOs, networks, associations, etc.). We also support the development and strengthening of associative networks.

Today, the organization’s target groups are women and youth. Oxfam-Québec works in conjunction with the networks of NGOs and local associations in both rural and urban areas.
